The Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce (GTO) was honored with the UNDP Special Award at the 23rd Golden Compass Türkiye Public Relations Awards for its project titled “Women Breaking Boundaries with GCC.”
Another Prestigious Award for GCC
GCC’s project which had been developed with the aim of strengthening the participation of women entrepreneurs and women’s cooperatives in economic life, was selected from among more than 200 projects at the 23rd Golden Compass Türkiye Public Relations Awards, organized by the Public Relations Association of Türkiye (TÜHİD). The project received the UNDP Special Award, granted to initiatives that most effectively address economic, social, and environmental impacts.
Yıldırım: “We Are Proud”
Commenting on the award, GCC’s Chairman of the Board of Directors M. Tuncay Yıldırım recalled that the same project had previously won first place worldwide at the World Chambers Competition held in Switzerland in 2023.
“Our project, which has now been crowned with success for the second time through the UNDP Special Award at the 23rd Golden Compass Awards, has provided women with professional training in entrepreneurship, brand development, digital marketing, e-commerce, financial literacy, and cooperative management. We have also established strong partnerships with numerous women’s cooperatives. In order to strengthen women producers’ access to sustainable income models, we launched the GAGA-Store social shop and the online platform gagastore.com. In short, through this project, we have made a meaningful impact on the lives of countless women,” he said.
He added that the award was granted in recognition of the project’s proven impact on women’s economic empowerment, its strong local partnership structure, its focus on sustainable development, and its scalable model that can be replicated in different regions. He emphasized their pride in having these successful efforts recognized.
Mr. Yıldırım: “Four Awards in Just One Month”
Stating that GCC has received four awards within the past month, including the UNDP Special Award, Mr. Yıldırım continued:
“Our subsidiary BULLA Restaurant once again earned the ‘Excellent’ category by receiving four pearls in the İncili Gastronomy Guide. At a competition held in Kayseri, students of our Gaziantep Gastronomy Academy’s professional culinary program achieved second place in their respective categories. Our İstasyon Gaziantep project was also honored with an award in the Local Initiatives category at the Social Benefit Awards organized by Dünya Newspaper. Our fourth award came from the Golden Compass. Winning four awards in just one month is a great source of pride for us. I sincerely thank to all GCC staff—the true architects of this success—as well as our Board of Directors, Assembly, and Professional Committee members, who have consistently supported all our efforts.”
The 23rd Golden Compass Türkiye Public Relations Awards Ceremony, held in Istanbul, was attended by GCC’s Corporate Communications Director Şenay Çopur and Foreign Relations and Project Development Director Sezin Darvish. The UNDP Special Award was presented by Dr. Faik Uyanık, Head of Communications at UNDP Türkiye.
