The World Chambers Federation (WCF), which operates under the umbrella of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and represents chambers globally, brings together the business world, chambers, public institutions and academics on a common platform at its Congresses held every two years in different regions of the world. The 11th World Chambers Congress of the ICC World Chambers Federation (WCF) was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 12-14 June 2019. As in every Congress, the ‘World Chambers Competition’ was also held within the scope of the Congress. In the competition, which saw a total of 74 Chambers from around the world participate in three categories, our Chamber won the first prize in the ‘Most Unusual Project’ category with the ‘Syria Table Project.’ 

Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce ‘Syria Desk Project’

The ‘Syria Desk’ is a unique and free service provider unit established to provide business support to Syrian companies operating in Gaziantep. The main purpose of the desk is to facilitate the integration of Syrian businesses by overcoming language barriers and assisting with requests, needs, and problems. The Syria Desk not only benefits Syrian businesses but also formalises many unregistered Syrian businesses, enabling them to operate on an equal competitive footing with existing members. In addition to serving as an implementation and solution partner for Syrian companies, the Syria Desk collaborates with international NGOs to execute numerous internationally funded projects for Syrian refugees.
